This small
village on Tupinambarana Island is part of the largest river archipelago of
the mid-Amazon, 250 miles east of Manaus along the river route. In existence
for two centuries, Parintins is rich in Indian culture, which is portrayed
in the celebrated annual Boi Bumba festival. A stadium with a capacity of
30,000 was built in 1988 as the venue for the festival, known locally as
"Bum Bódromo." Silver Sea guests will be treated to a special performance of
music, singing and dancing, much like that of the annual Parintins festival.
Since there are no suitable buses or guides in Parintins, no organized tour
can be offered. Exploration of the village is at your leisure. |
